Rev. Burket has faithfully served Springfield Fellowship Church for more than 41 years. He grew up just blocks from the church and started attending the Lake View Community Church at the age of eight. He taught Junior Boys class as a teenager, graduated from Springfield High School and attended Marion College where he met his wife to be, Colleen Wagner. They married in 1957 and raised six children four boys and two girls.
Rev. Burket served on the staff of Rex Humbard and the Old Time Gospel Hour through Jerry Falwell in Lynchburg Va. then returned to Akron Ohio served as assistant Pastor with Bruce Jackson while working for Rex Humbard. When Bruce Jackson moved to a new area, the church asked Rev. Burket if he would Pastor the church until they found another Pastor and that was 41 years ago.
The church changed its name in the early 1970s to Springfield Fellowship Church.
My God has blessed me with a wonderful family and a joy that can only come from Him. I count it a privilege to serve the Lord with such great men and women here at Springfield Fellowship Church. I try to remind myself each morning that "I am living abundantly, through God's grace, which is sufficiently equipping me to glorify Him in all that I say and do."
My life verse is
... because it reminds me to glorify God above all else.
Andrea Burton, Youth Pastor / Director of Children's Ministries
Andrea has attended the church all her life. She was blessed to grow up as a pastor's daughter, and has had great examples of what a servants heart looks like. She has an awesome family that is a great support to her. She loves to teach the kids and teens and plan special activities for them. She has been serving our church over 20 years.
A couple of her favorite verses:
Deuteronomy 10:12 & 13
...what does The Lord your God require of you but to fear The Lord your God, to walk in all His ways, to love Him, to serve The Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and keep the commandments of The Lord and His statutes which I commanded you today for your good.
